amsterdam - Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has died at the age of 100 in his home in Plains, Georgia. Carter, known for his post-presidential humanitarian work, left a lasting legacy that surpassed his presidency.

Former President Jimmy Carter passed away at the age of 100 in his home in Plains, Georgia. Carter, who served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981, is remembered not only for his time in office but also for his impactful post-presidential work.

Carter, the oldest living U.S. President, dedicated his post-presidential years to humanitarian efforts through the Carter Center. His work focused on resolving global conflicts, promoting democracy and human rights, and tackling diseases worldwide. His contributions led to successes in combating river blindness and the Medinaworm, among other achievements.

Despite facing challenges during his presidency, including the Iran hostage crisis and economic turmoil, Carter's greatest presidential achievement was the signing of the Camp David Accords, which established peace between Israel and Egypt.

Following his presidency, Carter received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his continued efforts towards peace and human rights. He remained active in public service and humanitarian work until his passing, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and dedication.
