Former Minister Accuses Colombian President Petro of Drug Use During Visit

A former minister, Leyva, has accused Colombian President Gustavo Petro of drug use during a visit to France in 2023. Leyva claims Petro disappeared for two days during an official visit to Paris, alleging drug addiction.

Corruption Allegations and Accusations

Leyva, who was removed from office due to corruption charges, has become a vocal critic of Petro. He claims Petro appointed officials based on personal connections rather than qualifications, citing the Foreign Minister Laura Sarabia.

Denial and Response

Petro denied the accusations, dismissing Leyva's claims and jokingly referencing French culture. He stated that he spent the time in France with his family, including his daughters and grandchildren.

Petro also addressed unfounded allegations of alcohol use, explaining that he cannot consume alcohol since undergoing surgery for esophageal cancer in 2020.
