Former employee Trump slanders Manafort

alexandria - Rick Gates, former campaign officer of US President Donald Trump, stated on Monday in court that he had committed crimes with Paul Manafort. Manafort was Trump's campaign manager.

Gates stated, among other things, that he, together with Manafort, earned tens of millions with lobbying for pro-Russian politicians in Ukraine. They then deposited that money on foreign accounts and withheld the revenues from the American tax authorities.

Gates and Manafort worked together for many years, including in Trump's election campaign team in 2016. Gates had already announced that it would cooperate with Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the US elections in 2016. He does so in exchange for a reduction of sentences.

Manafort is on trial for bank and tax fraud. He denies fault on all points. Gates is the chief witness of the prosecutor in the criminal proceedings against Manafort.
