First Saudi cinema open on April 18

riyad - The first Saudi Arab cinema opens its doors in Riyadh on April 18. That's what the state media announced on Wednesday. The Sunni kingdom closed an agreement earlier with the American company AMC for the establishment of thirty to forty film houses over the next five years in about fifteen cities.

Saudi Arabia had a number of cinemas in the 1970s, but these were closed one by one by religious leaders almost forty years ago. At that time they received more and more power in the strict Islamic world. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is in the process of easing the rules. The AMC entertainment chain is also involved in the realization of a hundred theaters in the country before 2030.
