france - France's Media Oversight Board decides to close far-right channel C8 for the first time in history, followed by NRJ12.

Landmark Decision in France

France's Media Oversight Board has made history by deciding to close the far-right channel C8 for the first time ever. The decision, approved by the French High Court, marks the end of the channel's 20-year broadcast history at 11:59 PM tonight.

The closure was based on the channel's failure to respect human rights, neglect of protecting children, and lack of adherence to pluralism and journalistic ethics.

French right-wing politicians condemned the decision, labeling it as a restriction of freedom of expression.

In addition to the closure of C8, the channel NRJ12 was also shut down for 're-broadcasting'.

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his support for the decision.
