Firefighter dead in flood after severe weather in Spain

Firefighter Jose Gil disappeared when the car in which he drove with two others went upside down. His companions were saved. From Gil later the mortal remains were found. That happened at Campillos, where a flood turned the streets into a swirling stream and hundreds of people had to leave their homes. Cars were carried along by the current and reduced to scrap on a large pile.

In Ardales, about 60 kilometers from the city of Malaga, almost 400 mm of rain would have fallen in 24 hours.
