meerbusch - The emergency services in the German Meerbusch (North Rhine-Westphalia) had their hands full with the rescue of an escaped horse. The fleeing animal fell through the cover of a swimming pool and landed in the water, reports the fire brigade on Monday.
The emergency services received a phone call with the striking announcement that a horse was standing in the pool of a house, the Rheinische Post reported. Firefighters came to the aid, but discovered that their car was too big for the garden. A farmer then provided the necessary equipment to hoist the horse out of the water.
'Fortunately the animal was not injured and not panicked,' said a spokesman for the fire brigade. In total, about twenty firefighters spent about two hours last weekend in the rescue operation. A veterinarian also jerked off to administer a sedative to the animal. The horse was returned to the owner after a medical examination.
