south korea - A fire broke out in an 8-story building in South Korea, covering the sky in smoke. 40 people trapped in the building were rescued by firefighters.

In Seongnam city of South Korea, a fire broke out in an 8-story building housing shops and apartments at around 16:37 local time.

The sky was covered in smoke due to the flames, and firefighters and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.

With the intervention of 80 fire engines, 50 people quickly evacuated the building. 40 people trapped in the building were rescued by the teams.

12 people affected by the smoke were taken to the hospital for treatment. The fire was extinguished as a result of the efforts of the firefighters.

It is reported that the fire started in the kitchen of a restaurant on the first floor of the building, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
