trier - Apparently not everyone in the German city of Trier is happy with the recently unveiled statue of the philosopher Karl Marx in the center of the city. The fire brigade had to come on Thursday morning to extinguish a fire at the bronze statue.
Unknown people had draped a banner around the statue and then lit it. The damage was limited according to German media.
Who is behind the 'attack' is not known, because the text on the banner could no longer be read.
Last Saturday it was 200 years ago that Marx was born in Trier.
