rome - A German tourist has to pay a dive in the famous Trevi fountain in Rome. The woman took a bath at the top attraction in the Italian capital on Tuesday, receiving a fine of 450 euros, police said Wednesday.
Why the 60-year-old woman decided to take a bath in the Trevi fountain is unclear. The location became world famous by the night-time bathing in the water of the fountain by Anita Ekberg in the classic film La Dolce Vita.
Last week, a Spaniard also captured the headlines after having been naked in the baroque fountain. With high fines, the city is trying to protect the attraction against 'swimmers'.
