ankara - The Turkish media watchdog has fined a TV channel after complaints had been received about 'child abuse'. The reason was a talent show in which young girls performed in short shorts and small tops.
It was a group of girls between seven and eleven years. Immediately after the broadcast, complaints came from viewers who did not think it appropriate. The TV authority imposed a fine of € 220,000 on TV8.
The fine will fuel the fury of critics of President Erdogan who believe that this gnaws at secularism and the rights of minorities.
