amersfoort - People still know hardly what to do to get within less sugar. This is evident from an examination of the Diabetes Foundation below 1200 people, which is representative in accordance with the fund. Dutch get an average of thirty sugar every day without realizing it in through all kinds of products, said the fund also by food that many people hardly suspect sugar.

The thirty lumps, during a survey a few years ago, is about double what is justified. 84 percent do not know how to fight the excess sugar, concluded the Diabetes Fund.

Yet three-quarters of the population ever tried to eat less sugar and drink. People did this mainly to feel healthier and to lose weight.

A large majority, 85 percent, only sees merit in a substantial reduction in sugar products. Hanneke Dessing, director of the Diabetes Foundation, says there is still a long way to go: 'The agreements as currently made between the government and industry are so limited that it is insufficient to stimulate the development of products with less sugar. Manufacturers must take more responsibility. ''
