Two individuals lost their lives and eight others sustained injuries following an explosion at an oil depot in Calenzano, Italy. The incident took place at an Eni energy company facility in the Florence province, leading to a subsequent fire outbreak. Emergency services, including firefighters and police, are currently at the scene conducting rescue operations. The firefighting efforts are still underway.

Local residents reported hearing a loud bang in various parts of the province in the morning. Pictures shared on social media depict a thick black smoke column visible in the surrounding area. Due to the intense smoke, residents were advised to keep their windows closed as a safety precaution.
