Fatal train accident Turkey is on the rise

istanbul - The death toll due to the train accident in Turkey rose to 24. At least 73 people were injured, reports Turkish media.

The train derailed Sunday in the province of Tekirdağ. Five wagons got off the track. According to the authorities there were 362 passengers and six employees on the train, who were on their way to Istanbul. The search for victims has now been completed.

The authorities report that the accident was caused by heavy rainfall. This would have shifted the track. Video footage shows how victims are removed on stretchers after the accident. 'It was a terrible accident,' said one survivor. 'Immediately there were deaths, people whose legs were crushed. ''

The Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan promised a thorough investigation into the accident. He condoned the relatives and wishes the wounded a successful recovery, reports state press agency Anadolu.
