siegen - On Wednesday morning the German police simultaneously attacked more than sixty brothels and houses. The action is aimed at a gang that smuggled women from Thailand with, among other things, false visas to Germany and who would exploit the women, among other things by having them work in prostitution.

These women under pressure would not get paid at all. The gang leader, a 59-year-old Thai woman, has been arrested according to the newspaper Bild in Siegen. Nine others were arrested in the building where the Thai gang leader was arrested.

The federal police have deployed approximately 1500 agents for this action against trafficking in human beings, including members of a special command unit deployed in Siegen. It is the largest police action against organized crime ever in the Federal Republic. German media reported that the focus of the actions is in the Land of North Rhine-Westphalia, particularly in Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen and Siegen.
