Investigations by Ukrainian police revealed that the woman's sons were not of conscription age, with a 23-year-old and a 13-year-old son, neither of whom had been drafted. Officials suspect the possibility of the explosion being a suicide attack, suggesting that the woman might have been recruited by Russian intelligence agents who deceived her into believing she would receive a large sum of money as a reward. It is speculated that she may have mistaken the bomb for a listening device and it could have been detonated remotely.
