Explosion during disappearance of submarine

buenos aires - The Argentines saw an explosion last Wednesday, possibly coinciding with the disappearance of the submarine ARA San Juan. That the submarine was sunk after an explosion, wanted to confirm or deny a navy spokesperson.

That an unusual sound was observed became known late Wednesday, Dutch time. Back then it was not clear that it was an explosion.
