Stalled Negotiations and Tariff Threats
Trump recently threatened the EU with a new 50% tariff effective June 1, citing concerns of exploitation. In response, Von der Leyen expresses the EU's commitment to continue negotiations promptly.
In April, Trump imposed a 20% tariff on the EU, followed by a three-month negotiation pause until July 9. The 25% tariff on European cars, steel, and aluminum remains in place.
