European Smuggling Network Disrupted

Europol and Eurojust announce the dismantling of a smuggling network transporting weapons and ammunition from the Western Balkans into Europe. A caravan carrying heavy firearms was intercepted at the Slovenia-Austria border in September 2023 following tips from Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Caravan Contents:

• 25 Kalashnikovs
• 126 hand grenades
• 25 kg of Kalashnikov ammunition
• 1 machine gun

The Slovenian driver, heading to France, was linked to a group of Serbians and Bosnians. A Spanish individual under investigation in Spain was also involved. The arrests came after a year-long investigation.
