damascus - European ministers from Germany and France met with the leader of the transitional government, Ahmad al-Sha'ar, in Damascus to discuss the post-regime change scenario in Syria.

European ministers from Germany and France held a high-level meeting in Damascus with the leader of the transitional government, Ahmad al-Sha'ar, following the fall of the Assad regime. French Minister Barrot, addressing the YPG, the Syrian branch of the PKK terrorist organization, stated that "the Kurds must lay down their arms." German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock highlighted the importance of inclusive governance for all ethnic and religious groups in Syria's future constitutional process.

During the visit, agreements were made on technical and legal support for drafting the country's new constitution. Discussions also touched on stability in northern Syria and the importance of a political solution for the Kurds.
