brussels - With a financial contribution from the EU, a plastic fake castle was set up in Bulgaria. This is evident from a new film by documentary filmmaker Marijn Poels, who together with PVV MEP Olaf Stuger conducted research in the Eastern European country.
It is the castle of Krakra, a castle from the 11th century that has been restored with EU money. But what has been achieved is the closest to Hollywood kitsch, according to philosopher Vladimir Gradev from the University of Sofia, who is presented in the documentary. He calls the project wasted effort; with the historical reality it would not have anything to do with it.
