EU parliamentarian must return 40,000 euros

luxembourg - The French EU parliamentarian Dominique Bilde (Front National) has to return 40,000 euros to the European Parliament. The politician received that amount for the activities of a fictitious parliamentary assistant, judges the European Court of Justice.

The woman introduced an assistant who would have worked for her between October 2014 and June 2015. Bilde received an expense allowance of 40. 320 euros from the EU parliament. According to the court this was unjustified because the activities of the employee could not be demonstrated. The parliament can now fully recover the amount.

The European Parliament says it has wrongly paid around 5 million euros in compensation to different politicians. The French court continues, among others, FN leader Marine Le Pen.
