brussels - The European Commission wants to export licenses mandatory for companies selling technology that allows mobile phones and computers can be hacked and spying on Internet users. It involves both hardware and software.
Said Wednesday a proposal by EU Commissioner Cecilia Malmström (Trade). She wants the existing export control of strategic goods which can be used for military purposes, expanding technological products \'that can be used for serious human rights violations, acts of terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.\'
EU parliamentarian Marietje Schaake (D66) is pleased with the proposed revision of the regulations. \'European products must not be used against the EU for cyber attacks, industrial espionage, or to violate human rights abroad.\'
