Erdogan wants to visit Germany

World February 18, 2018 13:33

munich - After the release of the German journalist Deniz Yücel from a Turkish cell, the Turkish government is hopeful that the tightened travel advice from Germany for Turkey will be undone. That is what the Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said at the Safety Conference in Munich.

In July after German human rights activist Peter Steudtner was arrested in Turkey for support of an armed terrorist organization, Germany tightened the travel advice for Turkey. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned against arbitrary arrests that could occur in all parts of the country, including the regions visited by tourists. Steudtner was released in October.

Yildirim: 'We hope that the advice will be withdrawn. 'In spite of the negative travel advice, the German holiday traffic to Turkey, incidentally, decreased less than expected. Turkish president Erdogan wants to come to Germany as soon as the new federal government takes office. Yildirim says that to German media.
