- The mutilated hand of freed hostage Emily Damari is now an emblem of Israeli resilience and pride.

Emily Damari: A Symbol of Resilience

The hand of 28-year-old Emily Damari, mutilated by Hamas terrorists, is becoming a symbol of Israeli pride and unwavering spirit. Social media is flooded with the 'rock-on' emoji in support of Emily, who was held captive for 471 days.

Living in the besieged Kibbutz Kfar Aza, Emily's harrowing ordeal began with the killing of her pet dog by Hamas terrorists. In the commotion, she was shot, losing two fingers in the brutal attack.

Following her release, Emily's mother, Mandy, expressed gratitude for the global support that helped bring her daughter home. The 'rock-on' hand emoji, traditionally a symbol of love, now signifies courage and survival in Israel.

Israeli designer Aviad Amergi created a customized emoji featuring a hand in bandages with the message 'a great small victory,' garnering widespread acclaim. The gesture has transcended online platforms, with Israeli footballer Ohad Hazut using it to show solidarity with Emily.

Embracing the outpouring of love, Emily commented on Instagram, 'Love, love, love.' Her release, alongside Romi Goren and Doron Steinbrecher, came at the cost of ninety Palestinian prisoners' freedom.

The trio highlights the plight of 94 individuals still held by Hamas, emphasizing the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
