new york - Billionaire Elon Musk, appointed by incoming president Donald Trump as head of the new Ministry for Government Efficiency, has held a meeting with the Iranian UN ambassador, Amir Saeid Iravani.

Billionaire Elon Musk, chosen by Donald Trump as head of the new Ministry for Government Efficiency, has reportedly had a discussion with Iranian UN ambassador, Amir Saeid Iravani. The New York Times reports, citing two Iranian officials who wished to remain anonymous.

The purpose of the meeting was said to be to reduce tensions between the United States and Iran. The officials describe the conversation as 'positive' and 'good news'.

Trump's spokesperson, Steven Cheung, declined to comment on the news, and Musk was unavailable for a response, according to The New York Times.

During his first term, Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and imposed strict economic sanctions on the country. Following Trump's election victory on November 5th, voices in Iran immediately called for a pragmatic approach to the new American administration.
