united states - Elon Musk clarifies that he has no plans to buy TikTok, emphasizing on the uncertainties surrounding the app's ban in the US.

Elon Musk's Stance on TikTok

During the 'WELT Economic Summit' session on January 28, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk stated that he is not interested in buying the video-sharing app TikTok. Musk highlighted that he hasn't made an offer for TikTok and would not have any specific plans if he were the owner. He mentioned that if he owned TikTok, he would assess the algorithm's impact and seek ways to enhance its utility.

TikTok Debate in the US

Following the US law that mandates TikTok's sale to an American company or face a ban, the app faced temporary restrictions on January 19, only to be reinstated later the same day. President Donald Trump signed an executive order suspending the enforcement of this law for 75 days. Trump expressed a preference for the sale of at least 50% of TikTok to a US company. He also emphasized the necessity for addressing data security concerns related to ByteDance, TikTok's parent company based in China.
