celle - The 96-year-old former SS man Oskar Gröning is probably not under his prison sentence. A court in Celle concluded on Wednesday in appeal that the elderly ex-Nazi is fit enough to disappear behind the bars.
It was a higher appeal. The country attorney in Hanover had previously also rejected the request of the lawyers of the 'accountant of Auschwitz' for postponement due to health reasons.
Gröning was sentenced to four years in prison in July 2015 for complicity in the murder of 300,000 people. A doctor noted earlier that he is good enough to disappear behind the bars, where the ex-nazi should receive extra support.
