el salvador - El Salvador is ready to accept convicted criminals deported from the US, including those with US citizenship, as part of a new agreement.

El Salvador Agrees to Accept Deported Criminals

El Salvador's government has announced its willingness to accept deported criminals, including those with US citizenship, from the US. This decision came after a meeting between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and President Nayib Bukele.

During the 3-hour meeting, Rubio expressed the US's gratitude for El Salvador's cooperation in the migration agreement. He praised El Salvador for agreeing to an unprecedented migration deal. As per the agreement, El Salvador will accept Salvadorans deported from the US and detain them in the mega prison (CECOT). Additionally, El Salvador will also accept any illegal foreigner deported from the US, regardless of their nationality, and keep them in detention.

Rubio also mentioned that Bukele offered to accommodate American criminals, including those with US citizenship and legal residents, who are detained in the US. However, it is still uncertain whether the US government will accept this offer.
