barra de pojuca - A Dutch citizen, identified as Peter in his sixties, was kidnapped by criminals in Brazil and eventually released after his daughter paid the requested ransom of approximately 25,000 euros.

According to Brazilian media reports based on police information, the Dutch citizen, known as Peter and around sixty years old, was eventually released after his daughter paid the requested ransom. The ransom amount was reported to be 150,000 real, approximately 25,000 euros. Initially, she allegedly did not act quickly enough according to the criminals, prompting them to send a threatening message via an app: 'time is almost up'.

The kidnapping took place in the Barra de Pojuca neighborhood, part of the city of Camaçari in the Bahia state on the eastern coast of Brazil.

The kidnappers contacted family members on Monday morning around 5:00 am and demanded ransom. In their messages, the criminals requested bank transfers and used a commanding tone, making it clear that they were not willing to wait long for the money.

Reports suggest that the kidnappers also took a quad bike that was parked at the house where the victim was staying. Some media sources indicate that the man was visiting the country at the time of the incident.

Following the alert, the police conducted raids on various addresses in the Barra de Pojuca region, searching multiple vacant houses.

The man was eventually released, reportedly in the city of Joinha near his residence. After his release, the Dutch citizen received care from police and military personnel. A photo captured the moment he left the police station, appearing with long hair and a beard.

As the investigation is ongoing, the police have refrained from disclosing further information at this time.
