This measure grants the government the authority to use 'lethal force' against unmanned aircraft if they pose a 'credible threat to security.' Pilots flying in these areas risk interception and arrest by the police, according to a statement by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

For weeks, the US has been captivated by mysterious drone sightings in different states. Many residents are concerned, and various conspiracy theories have emerged suggesting foreign influence. President Joe Biden has stated that no malicious intent has been identified.

Initially, the ban was limited to the state of New Jersey, but New York was later included. The statement specifies that no unmanned aircraft may fly below 400 feet, the maximum height for recreational drone flights according to FAA rules.

The ban in New Jersey is set to expire on January 17, while the ban on Donald Trump's golf course in Bedminster will remain in effect until January 31, following his inauguration as president.
