Drama on Hawaii: piece of hot lava shatters the man's lower leg

pahoa - The active volcano Kilauea on Hawaii has made a first victim. A man was injured when he was hit by a hot piece of lava. He stood on the balcony of his house when he was struck. According to a mayor's spokesman, 'the lava slapped his lower leg and shattered everything in that spot.'

Around midnight (local time) again a large explosion occurred that spewed an ash cloud of about 3 kilometers into the air.

Scientists expect more eruptions of Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, that can spread ash and volcanic smog across the largest and southernmost island of the Hawaiian archipelago.
