Diplomatic blunder: Prime Minister shocked by dessert

World May 7, 2018 23:57

tel aviv - Israel seems to have committed a diplomatic blunder of size. A Japanese delegation of diplomats, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife Akie included, were served the dessert in a shoe during a dinner: a coarser insult is hardly imaginable for the Japanese.

Dinner took place on May 2, but a great deal of controversy has arisen recently, after Israeli and Japanese diplomats told their story anonymously. The chef is known for his creative ideas, but now runs a skated skate.

'High-ranking Israeli diplomats, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japanese diplomats are shocked', writes the newspaper Yediot Aharonot. 'In Japanese culture nothing is less than a shoe,' says an anonymous diplomat.

'You will not find shoes in the living room in Japan, not even in the office. This is contempt of the highest level, 'continues the Israeli diplomat. A Japanese colleague: 'If this was humor, we do not think it's funny. We felt vicarious shame for our Prime Minister. '

The shoe itself was not edible. It was a 'high-quality piece of art', according to chef Segev Moshe in a statement. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has now issued a number of press releases to suppress the controversy, in which Israel emphasizes that 'deep respect' exists for Prime Minister Abe.
