vilnius - A DHL cargo plane has crashed into a residential complex near Vilnius Airport in Lithuania, resulting in casualties and injuries.

A DHL cargo plane has crashed into a residential complex close to Vilnius Airport in Lithuania, according to various Lithuanian media outlets including the public broadcaster LRT. The pilot was rescued from the plane after regaining consciousness. One passenger has been reported dead and another injured, as per a spokesperson for the rescue service. Lithuanian news site Delfi mentioned that the plane was carrying four people, two pilots, and two crew members. A government crisis team spokesperson stated that all residents in the complex survived the accident.

A significant number of emergency responders are on the scene, stated the representative to LRT. The cause of the accident is still unknown.

The aircraft involved is reported to be a Boeing 737. The flight was operated by Swift Airline on behalf of DHL, originating from Leipzig. Air traffic in Vilnius continued as normal after the crash.
