washington/tel aviv - The US Senate approved Thursday the appointment of the far-right orthodox jew David Friedman to new US ambassador to Israel.

The 58-year-old Friedman has a house in Jerusalem where he also hopes to establish the embassy. He invests in the Jewish colonies in occupied territory. He is, according to the newspaper Haaretz believes that the settlement does not constitute an obstacle to peace with the Palestinians. Friedman, according to this newspaper also very right to Israeli standards. He also argued that Israel can annex the entire West Bank since the Palestinian population still does not threaten the Jewish majority.

The 58-year-old Friedman is the son of a rabbi from Long Island and a friend of President Donald Trump. He was previously a lawyer and adviser of Israel Trump.
