Devastating Fires in Los Angeles Fully Contained

Two devastating fires near Los Angeles have been fully contained according to California authorities. The region on the US West Coast has been ravaged by fires for weeks, with these being the largest. The death toll is in the tens, with damages possibly reaching hundreds of billions of dollars. At one point, 180,000 residents of Los Angeles County had to evacuate.

Firefighters emphasize that the containment of the fires is mainly symbolic at this point. The remaining hotspots have been isolated in mountainous areas. However, having the fires under control does not necessarily mean they have been fully extinguished.
