Democratic opposition chief justice grows

washington - More and more Democratic senators are against the proposed appointment of Neil Gorsuch as a member of the US Supreme Court, the highest legal body of the country.

So far 20 of the 48 Democratic senators indicated to block the appointment of Gorsuch (49). To oppose the nomination, at least 41 senators need to rally behind the blockade.

It is not expected that Republican senators oppose the appointment of Gorsuch. An appointment of a Chief Justice would be a huge boost for the president, following the failure by venting the Health Care Act last week.

President Trump wore the conservative judge from Colorado for the Supreme Court. This body consists of nine judges, including the president. They are appointed for life.

The seat has been vacant for more than a year after the death very conservative judge Antonin Scalia. Republicans blocked last year's nomination of Judge Merrick Garland by President Obama. That got a lot of anger among the Democrats.
