rio de janeiro - At least ten people have lost their lives due to landslides caused by heavy rains in the southeastern region of Brazil, according to rescue services in the state of Minas Gerais on Sunday.

Landslides triggered by heavy rains in southeastern Brazil have claimed the lives of at least ten people, with nine casualties reported in the city of Ipatinga. The city experienced 80 millimeters of rain in just one hour on Saturday evening. Among the victims was an eight-year-old boy who was found by firefighters in a house destroyed by a landslide. Another victim was discovered in the nearby city of Santana do Paraiso. Governor Romeu Zema of Minas Gerais expressed his condolences for the affected individuals and shared his solidarity with the victims in a statement on social media.
