Death toll rises hostage Burkina Faso

ouagadougou - The death toll from the hostage Saturday in a hotel and restaurant in Burkina Faso has risen to 28. More than fifty people were seriously injured by the hostage crisis in the capital Ouagadougou, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, President of Burkina Faso Sunday.

Among the dead are twelve foreigners. One of them is a 67-year-old Dutchman who worked for the non-profit organization PUM.

Hotel Splendid and the facing restaurant Capuccino Friday night was attacked by local terrorists of al-Qaeda. They shot first time around and then held the people hostage. When a rescue operation by security forces 156 people could be saved.

Splendid is with 147 rooms the largest hotel in the capital of Burkina Faso. Staying there many foreign businessmen and diplomats.
