Dead lion escaped by scattered caretaker

mechelen - Because of the absent-mindedness of an animal keeper, she was able to escape from her stay in a zoo in Belgium at the end of last month. The woman did not realize that a safety lock was open. The lioness was shot dead after unsuccessfully attempting to stun the animal.

This is evident from internal research at Planckendael Zoo near Mechelen. Measures are taken against the caregiver. The zoo also raises 500,000 euros in extra security systems for dangerous animals such as predators and elephants.

Lioness Rani walked her stay on June 21st. For hours it was tried in vain to switch it off by anesthesia. When, at one point, she walked in the direction of a few visitors who had hidden in a not completely enclosed train car on the site, on the advice of experts and the police it was decided to kill the animal.
