copenhagen - The Danish police are investigating reports of an unknown group of drones spotted in the air above the port of Køge.

The Danish police are investigating reports of an unknown group of drones spotted in the air above the port of Køge. According to a press release, the police received a tip from a witness on Friday evening around 10:30 p.m. who claimed to have seen at least twenty drones.

Officers who went to the harbor counted four 'large' drones, which reportedly disappeared at high speed over the sea at the beginning of the night. The police have been in contact with multiple authorities but do not know the origin of the drones or their purpose above the harbor. They did not have permission to fly there, according to the police.

Footage of the incident is also circulating on social media. Køge is located forty kilometers south of the Danish capital, Copenhagen, on the Baltic Sea coast. Recent issues with submarine electricity and communication cables in the Baltic Sea, possibly due to sabotage, have led NATO to increase its military presence in the region.

In December, Americans were captivated by mysterious drones sighted by civilians in New Jersey and New York. The drones were reportedly flying above critical infrastructure such as water reservoirs, power lines, train stations, police stations, and military installations, sparking conspiracy theories. The White House stated that there was no cause for concern and that the drone flights were 'completely legal and legitimate'.
