madrid - The unveiling of new glamorous portraits of King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain has sparked controversy, with critics citing the timing, revealing attire, and high cost.

Controversy has erupted in Spain over the new glamorous portraits of King Felipe and Queen Letizia. The timing of the unveiling comes at an inopportune moment, following recent criticism of King Felipe's response to the devastating floods in Paiporta, which claimed the lives of over 200 people. Social media users have questioned why the funds for the portraits were not allocated to the victims of the natural disaster.

The final portraits, captured by a famous American photographer, were nine months in the making. The photo session, according to the curator of the Spanish Bank, lasted nearly five hours with a team of five people.

The photographer aimed to depict the royal couple, who have been married for twenty years and ruled for a decade, in meticulous detail. King Felipe VI posed in full military regalia, while Queen Letizia was styled more like a Hollywood star from the golden age, donning elegant attire designed by renowned Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga.

Queen Letizia's portrait marks a departure from tradition, with bare shoulders and the absence of a crown giving her a Hollywood starlet look. The renowned photographer, known for capturing celebrities in intimate and unconventional moments, has a history of creating iconic images.
