In Sweden, Salvan Momika, known for Quran burning provocations, was shot dead in his apartment while live streaming on Tiktok. The 38-year-old was on trial for hate crimes for burning the Quran in public demonstrations.

Legal Process and Provocations

Salvan Momika and Salvan Najem were on trial for burning the Quran in multiple incidents, deemed as hate crimes. The court was expected to announce the verdict on January 31, following the provocations in front of Stockholm Mosque and other public places, including the Embassy of Iraq and the Swedish Parliament.

Previous Incidents and Outcomes

Momika and Najem set fire to the Quran in front of Stockholm Mosque on June 28, 2023, leading to public outrage and arrests. Momika's actions continued in Malmö and Stockholm, where he burned the Quran and raised controversies by disrespecting national symbols. The recent incident on October 21, 2023, involved burning the Quran and the Palestinian flag in a pro-Israel rally in central Stockholm.
