goma - In the past week, 33 new cases of Ebola have been detected in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Twenty-four people have died from the effects of the virus, reports the Congolese Ministry of Health. According to the ministry, the latest infection cases were observed between 8 and 14 October.
The World Health Organization WHO announced on Monday that an emergency committee is meeting to determine whether the situation in Congo is of international concern. The committee can make recommendations to suppress the epidemic.
There is a lot of fear that the virus is getting more and more involved. In and around Beni, relatively many contamination cases have been detected lately. Attacks of rebels have hindered aid.
