Concrete nuclear power station Purpose badly maintained

brussels - Energy producer Electrabel has not properly maintained the concrete at the nuclear power plant in the Belgian Doel.

That writes the Belgian newspaper Le Soir that bases nuclear energy watchdog FANC.

In September, Doel 3 was shut down for a long-term maintenance, the power plant will only be operational again in April 2018. The shutdown had to do with the concrete degradation of a bunker in the non-nuclear part.

Le Soir writes that the FANC Electrabel blames a lack of maintenance. 'The damage to the concrete must be tackled by the operator, who must carry out sufficient checks in the buildings concerned and, if necessary, carry out renovation or repair work. That did not happen enough ', according to the FANC.

The goal is close to Antwerp, in the town there are four reactors.
