chicago, usa - Video footage captures the dramatic near-miss between two aircraft at Chicago airport, highlighting the importance of air traffic control.

Close Call at Chicago Airport

A potentially disastrous collision between a Southwest Boeing 737-800 and a private jet was narrowly averted at Chicago Midway Airport. The Southwest aircraft, arriving from Omaha, Nebraska, had to abort its landing as the private jet unexpectedly entered the runway. Following a successful go-around, the Southwest plane landed safely.

The incident has prompted an investigation by US aviation authorities, with reports suggesting that the private jet breached air traffic control protocols by entering the active runway without clearance.

This near-miss incident comes in the wake of several recent aviation accidents in North America. A military helicopter collision with a passenger plane in Washington resulted in 67 fatalities in late January. Additionally, a medical transport plane crash in Philadelphia claimed the lives of seven individuals in early February. In Alaska, a tragic accident involving a Bering Air aircraft led to the loss of ten lives earlier this month. Meanwhile, a Minneapolis-bound aircraft experienced a harrowing landing in Toronto, though thankfully without any fatalities.
