palmyra - In the Roman amphitheater in the historic Syrian city of Palmyra Thursday sounded music of Johann Sebastian Bach and Sergei Prokofiev. The famous conductor Valery Gergiev is leading the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg during an outdoor concert, six weeks after Syrian troops recaptured the city in Islamic State.
