beijing - The Chinese military leadership cautions soldiers about the dangers of dating apps and online gambling.

Chinese military personnel have been warned by the marine leadership about the risks associated with dating apps and online gambling. The official WeChat account of the Chinese navy issued a statement saying, "Young officers and soldiers yearn for love. But if you disclose your identity as a soldier to gain attention, you can easily become a target for criminals." Chinese soldiers are not allowed to reveal their identity online due to their position. The military highlights various emerging online risks that soldiers need to guard against.

The article lists a number of hidden dangers, including the increasing popularity of dating software, identity theft, online gambling websites, illegal loans, phishing, viruses, and foreign sources. It also mentions the accumulation of debts that can put families in serious trouble. "It is easy to fall into carefully crafted traps by criminals, which can lead to theft of personal information, bank card PINs, verification codes, and more."

The awareness campaign is specifically aimed at soldiers born in the '90s and '00s, who are considered the core. The Chinese navy states, "This is the group that is gradually becoming the main body of the army." The 'internet generation' is seen as particularly vulnerable to online risks when entering into new relationships. There are also concerns about certain outside content that "can influence the minds of soldiers."

Last summer, it was revealed that Chinese students will receive more defense education, as indicated by a series of new legislative changes. The South China Morning Post previously reported that China is instilling seeds of patriotism among the youth, with a focus on increasingly younger ages. This includes children in elementary and high school being made militarily aware and trained. Students visit military camps and university students are taught to handle advanced technology like drone operations during combat training.

The Ministry of Education and the Central Military Commission collaborate with 'model schools.' The number of these schools reportedly doubled earlier this year. Students who join the military during their student years may receive exemptions for certain exams. This allows some young people to complete a university education more quickly.
