china, us - China retaliates with additional customs duties on US imports following President Trump's tariff decision.

China's Response to US Tariffs

After President Trump imposed a 10% extra tariff on China, China strikes back by announcing additional customs duties on energy, vehicles, and equipment imported from the US.

Reasons Behind the Tariffs

The White House stated that China's failure to control the flow of synthetic opioids like fentanyl and precursor chemicals to the US was the reason behind the tariff increase. Additionally, China's intellectual property theft, forced technology transfer, and other unreasonable behaviors were cited.

Tit-for-Tat Tariffs

China announced customs duties on energy, vehicles, and equipment imported from the US, including a 15% tariff on coal and LNG, and a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural machinery, large vehicles, and vans.

Sanctions on US Companies

China's State Administration for Market Regulation launched an investigation against Google for violating anti-monopoly regulations. Moreover, the US clothing group PVH and biotechnology company Illumina were placed on the 'unreliable entity' list for discriminatory practices against Chinese companies.
