beijing - Chinese Internet regulators have reached more than 5,500 apps offline. The apps contain pornographic and violent content, according to the Chinese state news agency Xinhua.

The removal of the apps, according to critics, the most recent step of the government in the fight to clean up the Internet. Monday undertook the government even though steps towards VPN services (virtual private network) that people can go online with a fictitious IP address. This enables them to evade censorship by the Chinese government. Several popular websites such as Facebook and Twitter are inaccessible to Chinese, unless they set up a VPN connection.
